LIFE programme for young people aged 13 to 17
February 19 @ 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
London Fire Brigade (LFB) and the Grenfell Health and Wellbeing Service will be delivering an interactive programme for young people living or studying in Kensington and Chelsea, to learn transferrable skills through firefighting activities.
The Local Intervention Fire Education programme is for 13 to 17 year olds who have faced challenges.
Among other things, the course can help young people to build their confidence and self-esteem, improve team work, and learn communication and leadership skills.
LFB decided to run the programme again after successfully running it in February, when a number of young people became fire cadets.
LFB worked very closely with the Grenfell Health and Wellbeing Team who supported young people during the course, and delivered a workshop on mental health. After the programme is completed a follow up session will be offered to young people who show a need for further intervention from the NHS Health and Wellbeing Team.
Young people who take part will receive a portfolio and AQA certificate on finishing the programme.
The programme will take place at the Paddington Fire Station from 17 to 21 February 2020, from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
