SPACE health and wellbeing hub partnered with the Grenfell NHS Health and Wellbeing Service and local organisations to provide free meals for children in the Grenfell area, on Thursday and Friday last week.

SPACE set up the initiative in response to Marcus Rashford’s End Child Food Poverty campaign.

On Thursday members of SPACE and Grenfell NHS staff went around Kensington & Chelsea, delivering 250 freshly cooked, packed lunches to residents, in a bid to support children during the school break.

On Friday, SPACE volunteers delivered 120 packed lunches, prepared by Kensington Hilton, and 50 family meals donated by Nigerian Community Association.  All meal packages included fresh juice, donated by Innocent Smoothies.

SPACE has also been delivering hot vegetarian food, prepared and donated by the local Gurdwara, three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays) since April, in addition to setting up a Covid-19 community response helpline which is a Freephone number.

Residents of Kensington and Chelsea can call 0800 047 8161 to request food deliveries or if they need to talk to someone from their neighbourhood.

Families may be feeling stressed and worried during this time. If anyone needs someone to have a confidential chat or support the Grenfell NHS service can help. Please  call 020 8637 6279 (8am to 8pm), or the out of hours call CNWL Urgent line 0800 0234 650
